, and he caught up with one of the witnesses that saw that lightning strike yesterday. the lightning struck him, the car shook as the driver was getting control over the vehicle, and then bolted off the road. reporter: amazing that that driver was able to

actually pull over onto the side of the road. what happened, the lightning strike hit the side view mirror on the passenger side of the car. several minutes later, as the fire chief responded, they saw smoke coming out from the side

of the hood. and it was later on, after an electrical short from the lightning that the car caught on fire. we then saw the car melting. it is better off to be inside your car then outside, but still not totally safe out
